This 1952 Volkswagen Beetle Deluxe is one of a limited number of split-window “Zwitter” examples built between October 1952 and March 1953, and it features the revised dashboard, vent windows, and exterior trim of the upcoming oval-window Beetle along with 15″ wheels, semaphore turn signals, a push-button radio, and chrome bumpers. The car is said to have been first owned by an Indianapolis Volkswagen dealership until 1974, after which time it went to private-party owners in Indiana and California.
