Highlights
- Highlights:
- This Spitfire features a 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive.
- A partial list of notable currently installed equipment reported by the seller includes flat-top pistons, an ISKY Racing Cams 261-degree cam, an aftermarket clutch, KYB shocks, Teflon bushings, Moss Motors suspension components, steel braided brake lines, an aftermarket electric fan, 13-inch 1979-1980 Spitfire-sourced wheels, a tonneau cover, factory-style cloth and vinyl upholstery, and more as detailed below.
- Named after a WWII fighter plane, the Triumph Spitfire made its debut in 1962 and slotted below the TR-Series models. It was designed by Giovanni Michelotti, who worked on several other Triumph models released in the 1960s, and it launched with a 1.1-liter 4-cylinder engine. The Spitfire received several visual and mechanical updates during its unusually long production run, and it spawned a coupe called GT6 in 1966. The final Spitfire was built in 1980, four years before Triumph stopped making cars.
- Power comes from a carbureted 1.5-liter inline-4, rated at about 57 horsepower and 71 lb-ft of torque in stock form. The modifications could increase those figures, but a dyno sheet was not provided to confirm. Output is sent to the rear wheels via a 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive.
