This 1964 Aston Martin DB5 is one of 123 convertibles built during the DB5 model’s two years of production and is among 39 open-roof examples configured in left-hand drive. Chassis 1278/L was completed in February 1964 and despatched to J.S. Inskip of New York before being displayed at the 1964 New York Auto Show. After its discovery in a Massachusetts barn, the car was purchased in 1976 by the then-chairman of Aston Martin, Peter Sprague, who had it fitted with a Vantage-specification 4.0-liter DOHC inline-six with triple Weber carburetors.
