This 468-powered Shelby Cobra CSX4000 just sold for $120,000, and I’d call that strong money for what it is.

Let’s break down why this specific Cobra is significant. The CSX4000 series is a continuation model, meaning it carries the legacy of the original Shelby Cobras while integrating modern performance features. This one packs a 468ci Shelby FE aluminum V8, which is a substantial upgrade over the stock engine options that can be found in earlier models. The five-speed Tremec TKO-600 transmission enhances the driving experience, allowing for better power management and control. With only 4,200 miles on the clock, this car is in great shape and has been modified for improved handling with a custom independent rear suspension. It's not just a collector's item; it’s built for serious performance.

Now, let’s talk price. The auction attracted 13 bids, which indicates a solid level of interest. Given the mileage, the desirable five-speed manual, and the performance modifications, the sale price of $120,000 seems to reflect the current market. While I couldn’t find a specific fair value estimate to compare against, it’s clear that buyers are willing to pay a premium for a well-maintained, modified Cobra like this one. The bidding was competitive, with the last bid jumping from $115,000 to $120,000, showing that there was at least one other serious contender in the mix.

Community feedback was relatively positive. One comment from a user noted that this Cobra had “all the right mods,” which clearly resonated with potential buyers. It highlights how important the right modifications can be in these auctions, especially when it comes to a model with such a rich heritage.

For anyone on the hunt for a similar car, keep an eye on the modifications. Not all upgrades are made equal, and some can significantly influence performance and value. Specifically, check for reputable brands and proven performance enhancements. If you can find a Cobra that strikes the right balance between originality and performance without going overboard, you could be in for a good deal.
