This 427-powered Backdraft Racing RT4B GT Roadster just sold for $86,000, and that's strong money in this market.

Let’s talk specs. This beast packs a 427ci V8 with eight-stack fuel injection, paired with a Tremec TKO600 five-speed manual. That combo is a performance junkie's dream. With a mere 3,200 miles on the clock since its assembly seven years ago, this car isn’t just fresh; it’s barely broken in. The Misano Blue paint and Martini Racing stripes add visual flair, while the black and red interior features leather and diamond quilting, upping the luxury factor. For buyers, this blend of classic looks and modern performance is a big draw.

Now, let’s break down the price. The final bid of $86,000 came after a competitive 23 bids, which shows that there’s real interest in cars like this. However, the Fair Value estimate pegged the car at $59,300, meaning it sold for a whopping 45% above that figure. That’s a significant markup. Given the mileage and the desirable manual transmission, the price makes some sense, but it’s still on the higher side of the spectrum. The heated bidding indicates that there were multiple buyers willing to pay up, but whether that enthusiasm justifies the price is up for debate.

The community has mixed feelings about this sale. One comment stood out: “Wow, this thing sold cheap!” This reflects the excitement some bidders felt, possibly thinking they were scoring a deal despite the final price being quite far from the fair value estimate.

For buyers eyeing a similar car, pay close attention to provenance and documentation. With a modified car like this, understanding its history can be crucial. Verify the build quality and any modifications, as these can significantly impact value. Keep an eye on mileage and the condition of the drivetrain; these factors can make all the difference when evaluating price versus performance.
