This Porsche 356 Speedster Replica sold for $18,757, and that’s a solid deal given the market context.

Built on a shortened Volkswagen Beetle chassis, this Speedster replica captures the vintage vibe of the original 356 while offering some modern upgrades. It’s powered by a 2.3L flat-4 engine, paired with a 4-speed manual transmission, which adds to the driving enjoyment. With only 500 miles shown, this car grabs attention for its low mileage, albeit with the caveat of being “TMU” (True Mileage Unknown). The aftermarket touches, like dual Weber carburetors and 15-inch Fuchs-style wheels, give it a custom edge. For buyers, this combination of classic looks and modern reliability is appealing, especially for those who want the essence of the 356 without the hefty price tag of an original.

As for the price, it was definitely on the lower side. The bidding reached 28 offers, indicating a healthy level of interest. The final sale price came in 16% below the fair value estimate of $22,415. This suggests that while the bidding was active, it didn’t escalate to the levels we often see for replica cars with such low mileage. Given the manual transmission and the unique features, $18,757 is a fair deal, making it an attractive buy for someone looking for a fun project or a weekend cruiser.

The community response backs up the good buy sentiment. One user noted, “That is a good price congrats Coturi,” highlighting the general agreement on the value of this purchase. Another chimed in, “I was tempted just for the motor!” which points to the appeal of the upgraded engine setup. Clearly, there’s recognition of this car's potential and the price it fetched.

For buyers on the hunt for a similar Speedster replica, focus on the condition and mileage. While this car had low mileage, it did show some wear with chips and scratches. Next time, check for any hidden issues in the chassis or engine modifications, especially if you’re considering a car with similar traits. A thorough inspection could save you from unexpected repair costs down the road. Overall, the outcome of this auction reflects a savvy buy for someone ready to enjoy a slice of automotive history without breaking the bank.
