The 2018 Audi R8 V10 RWS Coupe just sold for $123,000, and that’s strong money in today’s market.

This isn't just any R8; it’s one of 320 Rear Wheel Series models made for the U.S. market. With a sleek Florett Silver Metallic finish and a luxurious Black Nappa leather interior, this car stands out visually. Under the hood, the 5.2-liter V10 engine paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission promises thrilling performance. The aftermarket Soul Performance Products exhaust system and fixed carbon-fiber rear wing enhance both sound and aerodynamics, making this R8 a true driver’s car that appeals to collectors.

Now, let’s talk numbers. With 38,000 miles on the clock, this example hit the auction block with 42 bids, indicating strong interest. However, the sale price of $123,000 comes in 29% above the fair value estimate of $95,400 for similar cars. That’s a hefty premium for what is, admittedly, a rare and desirable variant. Given its mileage and the dual-clutch setup—both of which typically help retain value—this sale is still on the high side. The heated bidding suggests that buyers are keen, but this price may reflect more of an emotional win than a calculated market move.

The community response was mixed, with one commenter, @AAH49, expressing a blend of excitement and envy: “Congratulations! I am equal parts devastated and happy for you!” That captures the sentiment well—there's definitely a competitive spirit around this model.

For anyone on the hunt for a similar R8, keep an eye on the market trends for limited editions. The RWS is a rarity, but as this sale shows, prices can fluctuate wildly based on demand. Also, consider the condition and any aftermarket modifications when evaluating value. An R8 with a strong service history and desirable options like this one can command a premium, but be ready to negotiate if you’re looking for a deal.
