A 2006 Mercedes-Benz E320 CDI sold for $11,250, which I’d call strong money given the current market dynamics, especially with its no-reserve status.

This E320 CDI packs a 3.2-liter turbodiesel inline-six engine paired with a five-speed automatic transmission. It’s a solid choice for anyone looking for a blend of luxury and efficiency. The Pewter Metallic exterior and Ash MB-Tex interior create a refined atmosphere, while features like a sunroof, Harman Kardon sound system, navigation, and dual-zone climate control add to the appeal. With 97,000 miles on the clock, it’s a well-maintained option for a daily driver or long-distance cruising.

The bidding saw six participants, but the final sale price of $11,250 is striking when you consider it’s 39% above the fair value estimate of $8,100. While the high-mileage factor typically tempers prices for used cars, this one fetched a premium that speaks volumes about the current demand for diesel luxury sedans. It seems buyers are willing to pay up for a reliable, comfortable ride, even if it’s a bit over the mark.

Community sentiment reflects some skepticism, with comments noting that while the buyer likely feels satisfied, the seller might not share the same enthusiasm. One user pointed out, “Still coming out ahead, but barely.” Another commented on the diesel fuel prices potentially holding back bids. This suggests that while the buyer snagged a desirable car, the seller might have left some money on the table.

For anyone eyeing a similar E320 CDI or a comparable diesel sedan, keep an eye on the mileage and condition. It's essential to gauge how well the previous owner maintained the vehicle. Diesel engines can have a long life, but you want to ensure the service history backs that up. Look for records of oil changes, timing belt replacements, and any repairs. This diligence could help you score a better deal next time, especially if the market starts cooling down.
