This 2004 BMW M3 Coupe sold for $27,500, and that's a deal.

The E46 M3 is revered for its blend of performance and iconic design. With a 3.2L inline-six engine that churns out 333 horsepower and a 6-speed manual transmission, it’s a driver’s car through and through. This particular example features some thoughtful modifications, including aftermarket headers, an upgraded exhaust system, and a Shark ECU tune. Additionally, it’s had recent maintenance like a reinforced subframe and rebuilt engine, which boosts confidence for any future owner. At 83,600 miles, it’s a high-mileage car, but the extensive work done makes it an enticing option for buyers looking to enjoy spirited drives.

The auction featured 10 bids, indicating solid interest but not a frenzied bidding war. Given the final sale price of $27,500, it's significantly below the fair value estimate of $34,408. This represents a strong 20% discount off market value, making it a savvy buy for the new owner. It’s clear that while there’s some wear typical of its age, the modifications and recent maintenance add value that many buyers would appreciate.

The community weighed in with enthusiasm. One user remarked, “Well bought! I wanted this one but don’t have the space right now,” highlighting the competitive nature of the bidding. Another pointed out a potential issue with the car, asking if it was throwing codes due to the exhaust mods. This kind of feedback showcases the knowledge and scrutiny within the BMW community—something buyers should be aware of.

For anyone on the hunt for an E46 M3, keep an eye on the condition of the rod bearings and any signs of excessive wear on the interior and exterior. High mileage can mean more maintenance is on the horizon, so it's essential to verify the service records and any modifications made to the vehicle. In this case, the seller did well to highlight the car's robust maintenance history, which undoubtedly helped in securing a deal for both parties.
