This 2002 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 fetched $39,000 at auction, and that's strong money for a car with a fair market value estimate of $22,300.

This Corvette Z06 is a prime piece of American performance heritage. With just 38,000 miles on the odometer, it’s a low-mileage gem. The 5.7-liter LS6 V8 engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission makes it a joy to drive. The Torch Red finish is eye-catching, and the black leather interior is equipped with a Bose sound system and a head-up display, adding to the overall experience. This combination of performance and comfort attracts buyers who are looking for a well-maintained car that can be both a daily driver and a weekend warrior.

As for the bidding, it was brisk, with 35 bids placed. However, the final price of $39,000 is significantly above the fair value estimate of $22,300, meaning the buyer paid roughly 75% over market value. While some buyers might be willing to overlook price discrepancies for the right car, this one feels like a stretch, especially with the noted Carfax issue and incorrect wheels, which could have raised some eyebrows.

Community reactions were mixed. One commenter noted, “I agree with how you describe these cars but no way is this car worth that.” They pointed out the high price compared to other listings and highlighted the potential drawbacks. Another bidder who inspected the car beforehand acknowledged paying more than planned but justified it with the car's condition and proximity. This speaks volumes about how condition can sway decisions, even when prices trend higher than expected.

For buyers hunting similar cars, keep a close eye on the condition and history of the vehicle. Verify any claims made in the listing, especially regarding mileage and any potential issues that might affect its value. Always dig into the details and compare similar models before getting swept up in a bidding war.
