A 2000 Mercedes-Benz C220 CDI Wagon with 73,000 kilometers sold for $30,000 on Bring a Trailer, and that’s strong money for a low-mileage, diesel manual in this market.

This C220 CDI is a rare bird in the U.S. It packs a 2.1-liter OM611 turbodiesel inline-four engine and comes with a five-speed manual transmission. That combo is a big selling point for enthusiasts who appreciate an engaging driving experience. The car’s Brilliant Silver Metallic paint and patterned black cloth upholstery add a bit of flair, making it not just practical but stylish too. With only about 45,000 miles on the clock, this wagon is in well-maintained condition and offers a clean Carfax report.

The bidding was intense, with 33 bids before it finally landed at $30,000. Given the mileage, transmission type, and overall rarity of a manual diesel wagon in the U.S., this price isn’t surprising. It’s a strong market indicator that buyers are willing to pay a premium for unique vehicles with low mileage and desirable features. While some might argue it’s on the higher end of the spectrum, the competition was fierce, which is a sign that this price aligns with current market demands.

Community reactions were positive, with one user noting, "I stopped bidding because I genuinely loved this car... but had a budget." This sentiment speaks volumes about how this particular model resonates with potential buyers. The fact that several bidders felt a personal connection to the car shows the emotional value it holds, especially for those looking for a family-friendly vehicle with a twist.

For anyone hunting for a similar car, keep a close eye on the condition of the transmission. Manual gearboxes can be more prone to wear and tear if not driven properly. A thorough pre-purchase inspection (PPI) is essential to ensure that the clutch and gearbox are in good shape. With a vehicle like this, you want to make sure you can enjoy the driving experience without any nasty surprises down the road.
