The 2000 Land Rover Defender 90 Td5 just sold for $29,750, and that’s a solid deal for a well-spec’d and imported rig.

This Defender isn’t just any SUV; it’s a piece of Land Rover's storied history, blending British design with rugged capability. The 2.5-liter turbodiesel engine and five-speed manual transmission make it a favorite for off-road enthusiasts who crave a hands-on driving experience. With 127,000 kilometers (about 79,000 miles) on the clock, it's got plenty of life left. The Caledonian Blue exterior paired with Saddle vinyl upholstery gives it a unique look, and the Exmoor front bucket seats ensure comfort on long trips. Plus, the inward-facing rear benches add practicality for those adventurous outings. Being an import from Germany, it's less common in the U.S., making it even more appealing.

Looking at the final sale price, $29,750 lands about 9% below the Fair Market Value estimate of $32,614. Given the 52 bids, there was some serious interest in this Defender, which suggests buyers were keen but perhaps cautious about the final amount. The diesel engine combined with the manual transmission is a sought-after combo, and with the mileage in check, this price feels fair. If you’re looking for a similar Defender, expect to pay a premium, especially for desirable specs like these.

The community had a mixed take on this sale, with one user noting, "It’s a great buy for anyone wanting a Defender that’s ready to hit the trail.” The enthusiasm around these Defenders is palpable, and this one seems to have struck the right chord with bidders.

For those in the market for a similar vehicle, focus on the specifics: check the documentation on imports and ensure you verify the service history. A well-maintained example like this one can fetch a higher price, but the right details can make your search easier and potentially save you money down the line.
