The 1997 Ford F-250 HD XL SuperCab Power Stroke 4x4 sold for $26,000, and that’s strong money for this high-mileage workhorse.

This specific truck features Ford's legendary 7.3-liter Power Stroke V8 turbodiesel engine paired with a five-speed manual transmission. That's crucial for buyers. The combination of diesel power and manual shifting makes it appealing to those who appreciate robust performance and control. This F-250 also carries a Dark Toreador Red Clearcoat Metallic finish that sets it apart from more mundane work trucks. With 179,000 miles on the clock, it’s clear this truck has been used, but it appears to have been well-maintained, making it a viable option for both work and play.

When it comes to price, $26,000 is about 4% above the fair value estimate of $24,900. The bidding was active, with a total of 25 bids, reflecting strong interest in this truck. That level of engagement indicates buyers see value in this build. The mileage is on the higher side, but considering the robust nature of the 7.3-liter Power Stroke engines, buyers likely felt comfortable with its longevity potential.

Community sentiment echoed this enthusiasm. One user noted, “You’re getting a lot of truck for the money here.” That comment captures the general vibe—there’s an appreciation for the durability and capability of these older Fords, and this sale reflects that mindset.

For anyone hunting a similar truck, pay close attention to service records and maintenance history. With vehicles like this, the care it received over the years can significantly impact both performance and value. Look for evidence of regular oil changes, transmission service, and any major repairs. These factors can make or break your potential investment.

In summary, this sale is a strong indicator that high-mileage, well-maintained trucks with desirable specs can fetch premium prices, especially in a market that increasingly values utility and nostalgia.
