A 46k-mile 1996 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe just sold for $127,000, and that's strong money for this modified example.

This car combines a classic look with modern performance. Its Midnight Blue Metallic paint and Blue leather interior provide an appealing aesthetic. The 3.6-liter flat-six engine, paired with a six-speed manual transmission, is what many purists crave. The low mileage of 46,000 miles is a big selling point, especially since this model is known for its engaging driving experience. Buyers will appreciate the added enhancements like Bilstein B16 coilovers for improved handling and a Fabspeed exhaust that gives it a more aggressive sound. The aftermarket audio system is a nice touch for those long drives.

However, despite the appeal, the final sale price of $127,000 was 16% above the Fair Market value estimate of $109,200. That’s a significant premium for any buyer. The auction drew 43 bids, indicating a strong interest, but that might also reflect the current market's willingness to pay up for low-mileage, well-maintained vehicles. Still, it's hard to ignore that the final price landed in the “overpriced” category, especially for a modified car.

Community sentiment seemed overwhelmingly positive, with comments like "Congrats. Enjoy the ride," and "So stoked on this. She’s a beauty," showing that many in the crowd were excited about the sale. It's clear this car has its fans, but the price still raised eyebrows for those tracking auction trends.

For buyers eyeing similar vehicles, focus on the modifications and how they affect resale value. While modifications can enhance performance, they might also deter some purists. Always weigh whether those enhancements align with your goals for the car—whether it's for daily driving, weekend enjoyment, or as an investment. Check the car's history and service records, and verify that any modifications were done professionally. This can make a difference in both enjoyment and resale down the line.
