The 1989 BMW 325i Convertible sold for $4,300, and that's a deal in anyone's book.

This car is part of the beloved E30 series, known for its iconic styling and engaging driving experience. With a 2.5-liter inline-six engine and a four-speed automatic transmission, it strikes a balance between sporty performance and everyday comfort. The Bronzit Beige Metallic exterior paired with a beige interior gives it a classic appeal that many buyers find irresistible. Also notable is the black soft top, heated front seats, and Alpine stereo, which enhance the overall driving experience, especially for those looking to enjoy open-air cruising. While this particular model has 188k kilometers (around 117k miles) and carries the "TMU" designation, its clean title and provided service records suggest it was well cared for.

Bidding was lively, with 16 participants pushing the price up, but ultimately landing 42% below the fair value estimate of $7,400. That’s a significant drop for a car with such a strong heritage. The high mileage typically weighs down the value, especially with an automatic transmission, but it seems the combination of a no-reserve auction and the specific characteristics of this car made it an attractive buy.

Community sentiment echoed the favorable view of this sale. One user remarked, “Great deal if you’re in Canada, congrats @Trousers,” highlighting the perception that this price was a steal, particularly for a Canadian market vehicle. It’s clear that buyers recognize the value here.

For anyone on the hunt for a similar E30, pay close attention to service history and maintenance records. High mileage isn’t a deal-breaker if the car has been looked after, but you want to see proof of regular upkeep. Look for signs of rust, especially in convertible models, as that can become a costly fix. Overall, this auction result showcases that even classic cars can be brought home without breaking the bank, especially if you’re savvy about the market.
