This 1966 [International Harvester Scout 800](https://fridayswatchlist.com/search?make=International%20Harvester&model=Scout%20800) 4×4 just sold for $81,800, and that’s strong money for a modified classic like this.

The Scout 800 is a revered vintage off-roader, particularly among those who appreciate its rugged charm and utility. This specific example is powered by a 273ci V8 engine and features a five-speed manual transmission, which is a big draw for enthusiasts who want a more engaging driving experience. The recent refurbishment by DuneRider Designs gives it a fresh Aspen Green Metallic finish and tan vinyl upholstery, making it visually appealing while retaining its classic roots. With only 284 miles since the build, it’s practically a new vehicle in classic clothing. The suspension lift kit and American Racing wheels enhance its off-road capabilities and style, making it a versatile choice for both weekend warriors and show-goers.

The bidding was lively, with 36 bids placed before the gavel fell. Given the mileage, manual transmission, and overall modifications, the price feels justified. In this case, you’re paying for the freshness and attention to detail in the build, not just the age of the vehicle. The manual transmission and robust V8 engine are significant factors that often elevate the value of vintage rigs, especially when paired with a solid restoration.

Community reactions were positive, with comments highlighting excitement about the purchase, including one remarking, "Congrats Birdies!!! I know you will love this rig." This shows that the bidding community sees the value in this Scout, which is always a good sign when assessing market sentiment.

For anyone hunting a similar classic, pay attention to the quality of the build and the modifications made. Not every restoration is created equal. Look for reputable builders and check the details like the suspension and drivetrain. A well-executed build can make a huge difference in both enjoyment and value down the line.
