The 1952 Volkswagen Beetle Deluxe Split-Window Zwitter sold for $102,000, and that's strong money for this rare piece of automotive history.

This particular Zwitter is a standout from an era where Volkswagen was transitioning its production. The split-window design and unique features like semaphore turn signals and a revised dashboard make it a collector’s gem. With just 45 miles on a reset odometer, it’s been preserved exceedingly well. Buyers love the Pastel Green exterior and beige cloth interior, which add to the car's vintage appeal. This limited-edition model is a must-have for serious collectors who appreciate the nuances of early Beetles.

The price of $102,000 aligns with its low mileage and unique specifications, especially considering the four-speed manual transaxle, which is a favorite among driving purists. The heated bidding, with 52 bids in total, reflects the community's excitement around this model. While there’s no provided fair value estimate, the level of interest suggests that buyers are willing to pay a premium for a Zwitter in this condition. Given the rarity and the level of preservation, this transaction leans more towards strong money than simply a fair market price.

Comments from the community were lively, with one user noting, "A Zwitter like this doesn’t come around often; it’s a real time capsule." This statement encapsulates the sentiment around such a rare offering and indicates that buyers recognize the unique opportunity presented here.

For anyone looking to snag a similar vintage Volkswagen, keep an eye on the condition of the odometer. Reset odometers can be a red flag, so verify the authenticity of the mileage. A thorough inspection of the vehicle’s history and documentation is crucial. Remember, while this Zwitter is a rare find, not all low-mileage cars are created equal.
